      Graduate School of Aviation Industry & Business Administration was renamed to Graduate School of Aviation & Management.

      School of Air Transport, Transportation & Logistics and Department of Air & space Law were merged into School of Air Transport, Transportation, & Logistics.

      The New Administrative Building was built.

    • February 15th, 2007

      The official name was changed from Hankuk Aviation University to Korea Aerospace University.

    • November 1th, 2006

      Dr. Junku Yuh inaugurated as the University 6th President

      Dr. Sungjoon Cho was inaugurated as the acting president

      Total 890 freshman were enrolled in 3 colleges and 5 undergraduate departments:

      147 students in 10 departments for master's course,

      51 students in 9 departments for doctor's course,

      47 students in 7 departments at Graduate School of Aviation Industry & Business Administration,

      30 students in 3 departments at Graduate School of Business Administration.

      The level extension for the Students' Building was completed.

      Dr. Soon Kil Hong was inaugurated as the University 4th president(reappointed).

      The KAU Aerospace Center and Aerospace Museum were opened.

    • February 17th, 2004

      Industry-University Cooperation Foundation established.

    • September 1th, 2003

      Department of Air & Space Law for Evening School was reorganized to Day School.

    • August 1th, 2003

      Total 890 freshman were enrolled in 3 colleges and 5 undergraduate departments:

      171 students in 9 departments for master's course,

      27 students in 8 departments for doctor’s course,

      50 students in 6 departments at Graduate School of Aviation Industry & Business Administration,

      75 students in 3 departments at Graduate School of Business Administration.

      The Center for Korea Aircraft Safety was opened.

    • August 23th, 2002

      The Central Library and the Business Incubator Center were opened.

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota revision, changes were made as below:

      Graduate School of English for master’s course was established,

      Four departments - Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering, Aerospace Engineering - were merged into Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering,

      Department of Air Transport and Department of Business Administration for doctor’s course were established,

      Graduate School of Aviation Industry was renamed to Graduate School of Aviation Industry & Information Group, and Department of Information Protection and Aerospace & Tourism Information were established within,

      Department of Tourism Management was established within Graduated School of Business Administration,

      Entrance quota for 2002 was revised - 17 masters and 3 doctors for Humanities and Social Science, 14 masters and 3 doctors for Natural Science, 140 masters and 21 doctors for Engineering.

      Dr. Soon Kil Hong inaugurated as the University 3th President

    • March 1th, 2000

      Undergraduate programs are reorganized as follows:

      School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering;

      School of Electronics, Telecommunication, and Computer Engineering;

      Department of Flight Operation; Department of Air Transportation;

      Department of Materials Engineering;

      Department of Business Administration (Day and Evening);

      Department of English (Evening), and Department of Air and Space Law (Evening);

    • February 25th, 2000

      Teaching profession courses for School of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering, Department of Materials Engineering, and School of Electronics, Telecommunication & Computer Engineering were established with quota of 60 students.

    • March 22th, 1999

      4 Cessna Airplanes were purchased.

      1 Mooney was received by Korean Air.

    • March 11th, 1999

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota revision, changes were made as below:

      Graduate School of Aviation Industry for master’s course and Department of Air & space Law were established,

      Department of Aeronautical & Industrial Engineering and Department of Radio Sciences & Engineering were renamed to Department of Mechanical Engineering & Design and Department of Information & Telecommunication Engineering respectively.

    • March 3th, 1999

      Air Traffic Control Education Center was established.

    • November 5th, 1998

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota revision, Department of Business Administration and English for Evening School were established with quota of 70 and 30 students respectively;

      total entrance quota was set to 860.

    • October 19th, 1998

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota revision, Department of Air & Space Law for Evening School was established with quota of 30 students; total entrance quota was set to 890.

    • October 25th, 1997

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota revision, changes were made as below:

      Master's course for Department of Aerospace Engineering was established,

      Total quota for School of Engineering was set to 152 by additionally designating 16 students,

      while its doctor’s quota was set to 30 by additionally designating 5 students,

      Doctor’s course for Department of Materials Engineering was established,

      Graduate School of Business Administration was established with quota of 30 students,

      Department of Aviation Business Administration at Graduate School of Aviation Industry was abolished.

    • August 16th, 1996

      Dr. Owah Park was inaugurated as the University 2nd President.

      Construction of the Student’s Hall, the Science Building, the Mechanical Engineering Building the Electronic Engineering Building was completed.

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota revision, its entrance quota was revised as below:

      For master’s, its total quota was set to 136 students - 5 for School of Humanities and Social Science,

      14 for School of Natural Science, and 81 for School of Engineering were increased respectively,

      For doctor’s, School of Natural Science and School of Engineering set their quota to 4 and 18 respectively,

      For the School-Lab Cooperation Program, 5 students were designated respectively for both its Master’s and Doctor’s quota(Master’s - 3 for Korea Aerospace Research Institute, 2 for Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Doctor’s - 1 for Korea Aerospace Research Institute, 4 for Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) ,

      Department of Aviation Business Administration and Department of Industry Electronics were renamed to Department of Business Administration and Department of Electronic Engineering & Avionics.

    • March 1th, 1996

      Affiliated organizations and institutes were reorganized as below:

      Organizations - the Central Library, the Flight Training Center, the Press Center, the Newspaper,

      the Information Technology & Services, the Broadcasting Center.

      Institutes - the Aviation Tec Institute, the School Counseling Center, the Aviation Industry Tech Research Institute,

      the Community Development Research Institute, the Institute for Electronics and Information Development,

      the Institute for Aviation Industry, the Policy and Laws, the Institute for Humanities and Natural Science,

      the Institute for Aircraft Safety and System Management, the Institute for Business Studies,

      the Center for Continuing Education.

    • October 18th, 1995

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota and Name revision, changes were made as below:

      New graduate courses were established - 50 master’s course students for Department of Air Transport, 30 doctor’s course for Department of Aviation Management, Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering & Design,

      70 students were additionally designated for Graduate School of Aviation Industry,

      Department of Computer Science was renamed to Department of Computer Engineering.

    • October 4th, 1995

      In accordance with School Quota revision, total quota was set to 760 as of following changes:

      50 for Department of Information & Telecommunication Engineering,

      40 for Department of Electronic Engineering & Avionics.

      Department of Aiation Business Administration was renamed to the Department of Business Administration.

    • May 9th, 1995

      Graduate School was divided into General Graduate School and Graduate School of Aviation & Management.

      School Regulations were modified regarding abolishment of the Maintenance Factory, the Wireless Lab, the Flight Control, and establishment of the Central Research Institute.

    • October 21th, 1994

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota and Department revision, changes were made as below:

      Master’s course for Department of Aviation Business Administration and Aerospace Mechanical Engineering were established with quota of 30 students in total,

      13 students(3 masters, 10 doctors) for School-Lab Cooperation Program were newly assigned,

      Graduate School of Aviation & Management was established with quota of 40 students,

      which includes Department of Aerospace Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Electronics Engineering,

      Aeronautical & Industrial Engineering, Radio Sciences & Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Aviation Business Administration.

    • September 5th, 1994

      In accordance with Undergraduate School Quota revision, two department changed their name as below:

      Department of Aviation Management to Department of Air Transport,

      Department of Computer Science to Department of Computer Engineering.

    • September 4th, 1994

      In accordance with Graduate School Quota and School Regulations revision, changes were made as below:

      55 master’s students were additionally designated for Department of Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Design, and Computer Science,

      15 doctor’s students were additionally designated for Department of Aeronautical Information & Telecommunication Engineering,

      8 student were newly designated for the School-Lab Cooperation Program(5 masters, 3 doctors).

    • September 3th, 1993

      In accordance with Undergraduate School Quota revision, total entrance quota was set to 760 as of following changes:

      Department of Aerospace Engineering was established with quota of 40 students,

      Total 50 students were additionally designated for following departments - 20 for Aeronautical Science & Flight Operation, 10 for Materials Engineering, 20 for Mechanical Engineering & Design.

    • March 1th, 1993

      Dr. Hyungjae Lee was inaugurated as the University 1th President.

    • February 25th, 1993

      In accordance with School Regulations revision, changes were made as below:

      Names for the Training School for Aviation Tech and the Saemaul Research Institute were changed to Aviation Tec Institute and Community Development Research Center respectively,

      New institutes including the Humanities and Natural Law Research Institute and the Aviation Safety and Management Research Institute were opened.

    • January 21th, 1993

      The Training School for Aviation Tech was designated as the Special Educational Institution for Flight Practician.

    • January 8th, 1993

      In accordance with the Articles of University revision, several terms were changed:

      Hankuk Aviation College to Hankuk Aviation University, Dean and Vice dean to President and Vice President,

      Graduate School Academic and Student Affairs Division to Graduate School Academic and Student Affairs Department.

    • October 23th, 1992

      Groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus was held.

    • February 29th, 1992

      Graduate School Regulations was changed to allow honorary doctorate.

    • May 31th, 1991

      Affiliated organizations and institutes were reorganized as below:

      Organizations ? the Central Library, the Maintenance Factory, the Wireless Lab, the Flight Control Center,

      the Press Center, the Newspaper, the Information Technology & Services, the Broadcasting Center.

      Institutes - the Training School for Aviation Tech, the School Counseling Center, the Aviation Research Institute,

      the Saemaul Research Institute, the Flight Training Center, the Institute for Electronics and Information Development, the Institute for Aviation Industry, Policy and Laws.

    • May 27th, 1991

      Affiliation with Leningrad Aviation College, Russia, was made.

      The Institute for Aviation Industry, Policy and Laws was opened.

    • November 30th, 1988

      Master's course for Graduate School of Aviation Management was established, and its entrance quota was set to 64.

    • November 9th, 1987

      Doctor’s courses for Graduate School of Aeronautical Engineering and Avionics Engineering were established.

      Master's course for Graduate School of Aeronautical Information & Telecommunication Engineering was established,

      and its entrance quota was set to 52.

    • August 23th, 1987

      Total entrance quota was set to 580 for 9 different departments as below:

      40 for Department of Aeronautical Science & Flight Operation,

      70 for Department of Aviation Business Administration,

      130 for Department of Aeronautical & Mechanical Engineering,

      70 for Department of Aerospace & Communications Intelligence Engineering,

      80 for Department of Avionics Engineering,

      50 for Department of Aviation Administration,

      50 for Department of Materials Engineering,

      40 for Department of Mechanical Engineering & Design,

      50 for Department of Computer Science.

    • March 1th, 1986

      The Flight Training Center was opened.

    • September 10th, 1986

      The Institute for Electronics & Information Development was opened.

    • October 5th, 1984

      Department of Aerospace & Telecommunication Engineering was renamed to Department of

      Aerospace & Communications Intelligence Engineering.

    • October 1th, 1984

      The Information Technology & Services, Broadcasting Center was opened.

    • May 1th, 1981

      Mr. ChoongKun Cho became as the 2nd executive director.

    • December 5th, 1979

      Master’s courses for Graduate School of Aeronautical Engineering and Avionics Engineering were authorized,

      and 20 students were designated for each department respectively.

    • October 21th, 1979

      Department of Aviation Management is renamed to Department of Business Administration.

    • March 5th, 1979

      Mr. Choonghoon Cho, the former chairman of the Hanjin Group, was inaugurated as the executive director of the Board of Trustees for the Jungseok Foundation.

    • January 10th, 1979

      Jungseok Foundation took over National Hankuk Aviation University.

    • October 31th, 1978

      Entrance quota was set to 300 by designating 100 additional students:

      10 for Department of Aviation Management,

      60 for Department of Aerospace Mechanical Engineering,

      10 for Department of Aeronautical Telecommunication Engineering,

      20 for Department of Avionics Engineering.

    • December 31th, 1976

      In accordance with School Quota revision(Presidential Decree No.8393),

      total entrance quota was set to 200 by designating 10 additional students for both Department of Aviation Flight Operation and Department for Aviation Management respectively.

    • August 30th, 1975

      The Flight Operation Building was built.

    • December 28th, 1974

      The Mechanical Engineering Building was built.

    • June 1th, 1974

      The Aviation Control Center was opened.

    • December 30th, 1972

      The Central Library was built.

    • December 22th, 1972

      In accordance with School Quota revision, Department of Flight Management was divided into Department of Aviation Flight Operation and Department of Aviation Management,

      and their total quota was set to 180 by designating 30 students for each department.

    • December 18th, 1972

      In accordance with School Quota revision, changes were made as below:

      Department of Mechanic Engineering was renamed to Department of Aerospace Mechanical Engineering,

      Total entrance quota was set to 150 by designating 10 additional students for each department - Department of Aerospace Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Telecommunication Engineering, and Avionics Engineering - respectively.

    • December 10th, 1971

      Air Force ROTC program was established.

    • December 22th, 1970

      Total entrance quota was increased set to 120 by designating 20 additional more students for each department.

    • December 18th, 1970

      The Liberal Arts Building was built.

  • 1960's history

    • October 25th, 1969

      The Student Advisory Institute was opened.

    • December 31th, 1968

      In accordance with revision of Decree on the Establishment of National chools(Presidential Decree No.2696),

      the jurisdiction of National Aviation College was transferred from the Ministry of Transportation to the Ministry of Education, and its name was renewed to Hankuk Aviation University.

      Several departments renewed their name with each entrance quota for 20 students:

      Department of Flight Operation to Department of Flight Management,

      Department of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering to Department of Mechanic Engineering,

      Department of Communication & Control to Department of Aeronautical Telecommunication Engineering,

      Department of Applied Electronics to Department of Avionics Engineering Affiliated organization and institutes were opened - the Central Library, the Maintenance Factory, the Wireless Lab,

      the Aviation Research Institute were opened, the Training School for Aviation Tech.

    • September 2th, 1968

      The Electronics & Telecommunication Building was built.

    • January 19th, 1965

      In accordance with revision of Decree on the Establishment of National Schools(Presidential Decree No.2039),

      entrance requirements were revised to candidates having a high school degree or its equivalent,

      and the years for course completion was modified to 4-year.

    • March 31th, 1964

      In accordance with Notification No.191 of the Ministry of Education,

      the school was approved to have a 4-year bachelor’s degree for natural science and engineering.

    • November 22th, 1963

      First academic building was built at Hwajeon-dong, Deokyang-gu, Goyang-city, Gyeonggi-do.

    • October 23th, 1963

      In accordance with revision of Decree on the Establishment of National Schools(Decree Law No.1605),

      changes were made as below:

      Reorganized from National Aviation University to National Aviation School,

      Entrance requirements were set to candidates having a degree on general natural science and engineering or 2-year college,

      Reformed junior and senior course to sophomore course,

      Specialized course was made.

    • August 1th, 1962

      The campus was moved to 40 Hangangro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

    • December 31th, 1959

      Department of Flight Operation & Traffic Control was renamed to Department of Flight Operation.

      Department of Telecommunication & Electronics was divided into two departments - Department of Communication Control, and Department of Applied Electronic Engineering.

    • January 14th, 1958

      Department of Flight Operation, Department of Aircraft Power, Department of Telecommunication Engineering were renamed to Department of Flight Operation & Traffic Control, Department of Aircraft Maintenance, Department of Telecommunication & Electronics.

    • September 2th, 1968

      The Electronics & Telecommunication Building was built.

    • June 18th, 1955

      The Flight Training Center was built.

      Maiden Flight was made.

    • August 3th, 1954

      The Hangar was built at 200-1 Hwajeon, Sindo, Goyang-gun.

    • January 25th, 1954

      Mr. Hyokyung Song was inaugurated as the 2nd dean.

    • November 14th, 1953

      The school was changed into National Aviation College with a 4-year course.

    • October 15th, 1953

      The campus was moved to Yongsan Campus located 3-65, Hangangno, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

      The Dormitory was built.

    • February 1th, 1953

      Changed into a 3-year course of the National Aviation School. Moved to Bumil-Dong, Busan.

    • June 16th, 1953

      The school was changed into National Aviation University with a 3-year course.

      The campus was moved to Bumil-Dong, Busan.

      Mr. Yunhi Kim was inaugurated as the School 1st principal.

    • June 16th, 1952

      The Charter for Transport School was granted by the Ministry of Transportation in order to develop civil aviation industry.

      The campus was built in Busan during the Korean War.

      The school opened with three departments - Department of Flight Operation,

      Department of Aircraft Power, Department of Telecommunication Engineering.
